David Venter
David
Venter, a Co-founder and Director of Global Negotiation Academy,
has a wealth of local and international experience as both a facilitator
of negotiation interventions and a trainer and advisor of negotiators.
As a registered psychologist he remains an enthusiastic scholar
of human behaviour and his insights into its complexities, gleaned
over his years as a practicing psychologist as well as those of
his being tasked with challenging and historically important national
and international opinion polls and information campaigns, manifest
themselves in his manner of negotiation facilitation and negotiator
training.
An ongoing interest is his study of paradigms and their role in
determining human attitudes and behaviour. This knowledge base manifests
itself in his development of corporate transformation policies aimed
at motivated, strongly aligned staff commitment at all levels as
well as in his firm conviction that by principled negotiation parties
can attain mutually beneficial outcomes to their interventions.
His career has exposed him to complex and vastly varied environments
including his doctorate obtained in project management; his term
in National Government as Director-General Communication (1992 to
1996); his years as a clinical psychologist; his extensive experience
lecturing university post-graduate students in negotiation; his
recent involvement as negotiation advisor to international and global
corporations (Motorola, Proctor & Gamble, GKN Driveline); his
myriad engagements to facilitate public and private sector meetings
and his time devoted to the resolution of delicate South African
land claims and to the acclaimed re-structuring of the Artscape
Theatre Company in Cape Town.
