Pieter
Vosloo has a career rooted in business and financial practice which
is enhanced by his keen interest in and practical knowledge of computer
technology and IT systems. He has a M Com in business management
and an MBA (cum laude) in negotiation skills, has lectured in financial
management to MBA students and now runs his own financial and business
consultancy based in Port Elizabeth.
As the financial director of a corporation trading internationally
and with a 2004 annual value-of-business of R1,4 billion, he acquired
practical experience in negotiations ranging from the thwarting
of a hostile takeover bid to the conclusion of business agreements
with corporate principals, the negotiation of corporate insurance
cover and the restructuring of the corporation's business form from
a co-operative to a public company.
For over ten years he has applied his expertise in a part-time capacity
on the Board of Trustees and the Audit and Marketing Committees
of an open medical scheme. During these years he has been exposed
to and involved in negotiations associated with the successful facilitation
and integration of a merger between the medical scheme and another
scheme, as well as the recent research and assessment of further
potential mergers between the medical scheme and other schemes so
as to ensure its long-term survival. He has also recently revised
the medical scheme's marketing strategy, which plan represents a
marked departure from previous strategy, and successfully negotiated
the acceptance thereof by the Board of Trustees and all other parties
concerned.
